Book Review "Mahkota Perempuan" By dr. Dyah Mustikaning Pitha Prawesti
Hello this is my first book review, having previously reviewed a movie. I will review the book entitled "Mahkota Perempuan" by dr. Dyah Mustikaning Pitha Prawesti. She is an obstetrician and gynecologist currently on duty at a hospital in England. This book contains her experiences while undergoing Obsgin specialist education at FK UI and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. And also her experience while handling patients while on duty in the UK. This book contains some stories that I find very inspiring and interesting for women to read.
The reason the author named this book "Mahkota Perempuan", because she argued that the uterus is a true crown for a woman. The uterus is a special organ that God has bestowed on women. And until now, there has not been any technology that can replace the uterus as the starting place for the development of prospective humans. Assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF can indeed "create" the fetus by bringing it together outside, but still require the uterus as a place to grow.
I'm just going to tell one of the most interesting stories for me. Hopefully, the story I took from this book will interest readers to find out more about the contents of all the books.
The most interesting story for me in this book is that it tells the story of a woman who has problems with her period. Every time you menstruate, you always feel extreme pain. After an examination, it was found that she was diagnosed with Adenomyosis, which is a disorder in which the decayed tissue during menstruation grows outside the uterus. In the case of the told patient, its tissue grows in the muscle layer of the uterus. The excruciating pain made her without thinking about choosing to remove her uterus. Even though he had explained the patient about his illness and was offered conservative therapy, he only discarded his adenomyosis considering that the patient had no children. But the patient actually refused. She said she was tired of being tormented for years experiencing pain during menstruation, often even to blood transfusions. Even the patient said "don't think about having children, just being able to live without pain is already grateful". And eventually the patient had her uterus removed and she was happy with her decision.
Actually, there are many other inspiring stories in this book. A story that can add knowledge about the world of womanhood, especially the womb. Its easy-to-understand language makes this book very suitable for ordinary people to read.
