Review Avatar 2009 - James Cameron

It's hard to explain in words after watching James Cameron's Avatar. This film is very good, interesting, fun and very worth watching because it provides many lessons about technology. This film is packed in an impressive story coupled with extraordinary effects. Here I will review a little bit what I watched from this film so that it makes you curious hahaha, let's see guys...

It tells the story of a disabled former marine named Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) who must join the Avatar program to replace his brother Thomas who died on duty because Jake and his brother have almost the same genes so that Jake can control his brother's avatar. Jake agreed to the offer because of the lure of the amount of money he would get. On his first day of service as a Na'vi, Jake and Dr. Grace goes to the forest to show Pandora to Jake, Jake is surprised by the appearance of Prolemurs (a type of ape on earth) and Jake is immediately left behind in the forest due to the attack of a type of rhinoceros and Pandora's tiger (which is 3 times bigger than a rhino and an earth tiger). This is where the adventure begins.

Jake Sully meets Neytiri who is the son of the leader of the Na'vi tribe. Jake, who began to be accepted in one of the Na'vi tribal villages, was finally assigned to go deeper in order to learn about their way of life, especially to get important information about places that contain a lot of Unobtanium content. But over time Jake Sully actually sympathized with this Na'vi creature. Not only that, Jake also began to be in love with Neytiri. Jake then began to study Na'vi culture, so that he finally began to be accepted and reborn as a Na'vi tribe. Jake begins to become a Na'vi warrior by looking for Ikran or his own Banshee (a type of Dragon) as the final test of being a Na'vi tribe. The Ikran or Banshee will later be ridden as a vehicle...

When he had to choose his duty and the Na'vi tribe, Jake finally chose the Na'vi tribe and helped lead the Na'vi tribe in the war against RDA. In the war Jake led by becoming Turok Makto, the rider of the Turok (the biggest dragon on Planet Pandora), in the story only 5 people have ridden the Turok and all of them are great leaders. That's how Jake leads the war against the RDA and drives them back to Earth. At the end of the story Jake must choose between being a human or a Na'vi tribe. And Jake chose...

I think Avatar is an interesting film in terms of visuals and vivid story that is shown. So the story tends to be straight forward without any interesting twists or side plots. But make no mistake, that's where the greatness of Avatar is, we will not be invited to think about the relationship between characters. Instead we will be invited to think about something that is broader and more abstract in meaning. It means this, sometimes there are some people who do not understand the meaning behind a film so that it makes certain films just for entertainment. Sometimes there are also those who understand more deeply about a film, so they think that a film has more meaning. As a sci-fi film, Avatar manages to build a fantasy world very neatly. This film really introduces all aspects of the film in a detailed way. Starting from the reason humans came to Pandora, the history of the Na'vi, as well as the background of a number of living creatures that exist on this fictional planet.

Throughout the film, we will be able to see Pandora's colorful scenery and able to cool our eyes coupled with the concept and unique culture of the Na'vi tribe, more or less showing Cameron's skill in making a story. Even if I'm being honest, the detail of the side elements of Avatar (language, way of life of the Na'vi, culture and so on) can match the details of Tolkien working on the story. Also by adding the mo-cap technology used for the acting of a number of players in the form of citizens of the Na'vi also looks very realistic. The beauty of the planet Pandora is getting worse when we combine it with 3D technology which is currently being widely applied to entertainment media.

James Cameron packs a simple story very well, almost no flaws in it. Currently, there are actually many films with visuals that are no less amazing thanks to increasingly sophisticated technology. However, Avatar deserves to be called a new breakthrough when it was released in theaters 13 years ago with its visuals. This film is also suitable for anyone to watch without having to worry about scenes that are not suitable for small children to watch. There's only one or two kissing scenes at most hahaha
